NATURAL HIGH ADVENTURES FISHING CLUB

February 2005 Newsletter

February 19, 2005

Our January meeting was held at Cleveland Heights Country Club on January 27, 2005. We had ten members and two guests in attendance.

Our guests were: Captain Keiland smith and Captain Todd Foucher. We are glad you joined us.

Business

  • Financial Report:  $375.48 in account

  • Social donation for 2005 was discussed and agreed on as $25. Will accept 2005 donation at our next meeting.

  • Spring 2005 Club Social was discussed. Many club members did not make the December party at RWT house, so it was decided to schedule the next social for RWT house on Saturday, April 23, 2005. Details to be decided later.

  • Several club members are going camping & fishing in the backcountry of Everglades National Park (ENP) over Valentine’s Day. Interested parties should contact RWT.

  • RWT has reserved a houseboat out of Flamingo for the week of November 13 through 20, 2005. Boat will be stocked and anchored in mouth of Little Shark River. Anyone interested in spending any time aboard should contact RWT. Estimated cost for food and lodging will be $100/day/person. Boat can sleep 8 to 10 and is air conditioned. RWT will need confirmation by August 01, 2005 and an earnest money deposit if you want to participate.

  • There will be a couples boating/fishing trip leaving from Chokoloskee on March 17th, 2005. We will spend one day fishing and touring the north end of the ENP on Friday and then leave for Flamingo on Saturday. Return to Chokoloskee will be on Monday, March 21, 2005. Reservations are presently made for four couples. If you are interested, let RWT know ASAP.

  • We discussed venue for future meetings. The recent changes at Cleveland Heights Country Club make it very inconvenient for meetings. After discussion, it was decided everyone was comfortable at RWT home and meetings will be held there for the immediate future. Club will furnish drinks or BYOB. We can have some oil heated up if you would like.

  • Kevin McCole has a Yamaha Four Stroke or HDPI diagnostic computer available if you are having problems.

  • We had a discussion on boating safety as a result of a serious accident that occurred in the ENP over Christmas. Everyone was reminded that there are a lot of folks on the water who probably should not be and that we must be extremely cautious to avoid collisions. ColRegs insist it is every boater’s responsibility to take whatever action necessary to avoid collisions.

  • Captain Jon Bull be giving a free spring flats fishing seminar at Lake Gibson Bait and Tackle on Highway 98 North on Thursday, March 03, 2005 at 1830 hours.

  • We then broke into a spirited discussion on fishing.

Next meeting will be on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 1930 hours at 921 Success Avenue in Lakeland. Call 863.660.5428 if you need directions or advice on your love life. See you there.
