NATURAL HIGH ADVENTURES FISHING CLUB

February, 2004 Newsletter

March 20, 2004

We welcomed one guest, Ryan Chamberlain, who was with Sean and Kevin McCole.

Old Business

The February club trip to Pine Island turned into a trip to Terra Ceia Bay. Joe and Bobby caught a few trout. Weather not very cooperative.

Roosevelt Clay from Cleveland Heights CC told us how we can order appetizers. We can order on an individual basis or by a number of folks.

Our next social will be on April 03, 2004, at "A Tropical Paradise" in north Lakeland. Take 98N to Duff Road. West on Duff Road to Myrtle Road, second street past ball field. South on Myrtle Road approximately one half mile to "A Tropical Paradise" on west (right) side of road. We will start around 1500 hours. Club will supply meat and each family will bring a covered dish. This will be a family event.

No club trip scheduled for March.

Possible future speakers: Writer for Larson Outdoor Publishing who lives on Banana Lake; Thom Smiley on Boat and Trailer Maintenance. If you know anyone who would be a good speaker, please have them contact Ron.

Jon Bull is presenting his spring seminar at Sports Authority on March 04.

Bobby Holliday will give an update on the Don Hansen Snook Tournament at our next meeting.

New Business

Steve Ervin and Debbie are getting married on Saturday, February 28. We gave Steve his personal ball and chain and wished them the very best.

Speaker

Our speaker was Bill Graff. Bill is a Senior Intergovernmental Outreach Specialist with the South Florida Water Management District. Bill gave a very thorough presentation on the projects associated with the Everglades Restoration Act. It’s clear from his presentation that rehabilitation of the Everglades natural systems is taking a back door to creating water storage for south Florida. The projects will do some ecological good in restoring some of the water flows on the west coast and several have already been put into service aimed at improving water quality. Total time frame is over 30 years. Overall program will have a hard time surviving multiple political turnovers.

Bill did a real good job of presenting the projects from a government point of view. I will seek a speaker to discuss the other side.

Agenda for 03/29/04/ 1930 hours/ Cleveland Heights Country Club

We have no speaker for this meeting, so it will be a social meeting mainly.

Finalize plans for our social on April 03.
