SPEAKER

Gina Russo, from FMRI, introduced our primary speaker for the evening, Ron Taylor, who is the Biologist with FRMI responsible for the Snook program. Ron did an outstanding job of educating us about the habits and life of snook, about the programs in place to assure snook for the future, and about what we can all do to help. Ron is a down to earth speaker who was able to connect with everyone in the room. We should all be better fisher folks and conservationists if we listened and learned. Many thanks to Ron, Gina, and to Paul Thomas who coordinates some of the special projects for FFWCC. Paul was looking for volunteers to assist with the kids programs at the FFWCC Booth at the Florida State Fair. The notice was a little short for this year, but maybe we can help in the future.

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will be on Monday, February 23, 2004, at Cleveland Heights Country Club at 1930 hours. Our guest speaker will be Bill Graf, who is a Senior Inter-Governmental/ Outreach specialist for the South Florida Water Management District. Bill has been involved in the Kissimmee River Restoration Project, the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Project, and the Lake Apopka Restoration Project. He will be talking to us on the various projects that comprise the Everglades Restoration Project. For those who enjoy fishing southwest Florida or just care about the future of our state, it will be a great session.
